I was thinking steering wheel - I know, still not interesting - but those longer parts put that idea to rest. Or at least replaced it with the possibility that there were such a thing as space jet-skis - would explain the headlight.

Space jet-skis would be fun, bouncing off the stars and riding along the milky way.
