This has that wonderful misty look of artificial light shining upon darkness, not bright, but softly lit, as though each particle receives special attention and only the closest, lit from all sides giving it a smoky transparency and the smoke allows to be seen what otherwise would not. I thought of antique streetlamps lit with candles, black iron, and full skirts, bonnets and horse drawn carriages, Dickens and formality.
